In SCR’s Summer Acting Workshop, a fun-filled theatre camp for kids and teens (grades 3-12), youth build confidence and self-esteem. The two-week camp is designed for students new to SCR, where enthusiastic and experienced professional artists help students explore and deepen their understanding of acting. Interactive instruction in voice, movement, character development and more is led by SCR’s staff of theatre professionals. Also, special guests bring to life various aspects of theatre, such as design, improvisation, combat, singing and playwriting. Camp concludes with students sharing their work onstage in a demonstration for invited family and friends. In SCR’s Summer Musical Theatre Workshop, open to all in grades 7-12, from beginners to young pros, this exciting and lively class teaches students how to audition for a musical role and then prepares them to perform that role. They’ll learn what it means to “act” a song and “sing” a scene. Both camps are offered July 17-29 and July 31 – August 12. Teen Improv Class, July 31 – August 12, 1-4 p.m.
