Every year the streets of downtown Santa Ana come alive in honor of the dead. The grassroots effort of El Centro Cultural de Mexico, Noche de Altares remains the premiere Dia de los Muertos celebration in OC. Expect thousands of people strolling through Calle Cuatro at any given time looking at the more than 120 altars built in memory of our ancestors. Colorful face painting, bacon-wrapped hot dogs and music round out the festivities with La Banda Skalavera headlining the big stage. Arrive at dusk when La Catrina begins a procession where she passes the flame of her candle at every altar stop along the way.
