The Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of its founding in 1996! After all that time, it’s still the only museum in the United States dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin American art, so what better way to celebrate its birthday than with a comprehensive exhibition of its permanent collection! 'MOLAA at Twenty: 1996-2016' traces the arc of its history starting with late museum founder Dr. Robert Gumbiner’s own personal collection. The exhibit goes on to encompass the past two decades of collecting and is curated to show the museum’s depth with Mexican, contemporary Cuban and modern masters of art being stops along the way; Rufino Tamayo, Patssi Valdez and Rodolfo Morales are just a handful of artists on display in the epic exhibit. All that and MoLAA’s not even old enough to drink yet!
