The Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) takes a classic play and puts a modern spin on it. “Inherit the Wind” runs Thursday, November 9 through Friday, November 10 at 7:30 pm and closes on Saturday, November 11 at 2 pm in the Historic HBUHSD Auditorium on the HBHS campus. Veterans have complimentary admission all weekend (please show ID or copy of DD214 at box office).

“Inherit the Wind” is a story based on the Scopes monkey trial, which on the surface debates science versus religion. APA’s director of this play, Jamie Roberts, envisions an overarching message though that she wants to deliver; “In this day and age of media swarming us with information, it is so important that we all learn to dissect the information we [read]… to explore various viewpoints so we can support our own opinions.”

This is the message she wants to drive home to both her pupils and the audience watching them. At a time when there is so much going on in our world with so many sources reporting, this lesson may be more digestible if expressed in an artistic manner.
