ANAHEIM, CA—As part of its mission to foster the future of the choral arts, Meritage Vocal Arts Ensemble welcomes talented young singers from exceptional choral programs at Diamond Back High School, (Carlos Cardenas, director) and Santa Ana Valley High School (Jessica Cosley, director) to join in the May 21, 2017 concert with orchestra featuring Vivaldi’s renown Gloria and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass. The concert begins at 4:00 pm at Anaheim United Methodist Church, 1000 South State College Blvd., Anaheim, CA. Tickets are $20.

120 musicians of all ages will be featured in “Glorious!” celebrating two timeless masterworks. Baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi’s most famous work, Gloria, is a composition that has remain ever-popular given its distinctive and joyous melodic and rhythmic combinations. Artistic director, Dr. Cristian Grases, pairs this work with Franz Joseph Haydn’s later works, the Lord Nelson Mass, featuring a virtuosic soprano solo by Meritage’s own Grace Lee.

“Meritage creates community through singing and is dedicated to preserving the choral arts for future generations,” said Dr. Grases. “With ‘Glorious!’ three choirs from two local high schools will join the seasoned singers of Meritage for a unique multi-generational event that engages all singers and orchestral players--advancing arts education—while broadening the enjoyment and delight of all, particularly the Meritage audience. Meritage Vocal Arts Ensemble is a renowned choral ensemble noted for excellence in performance of an eclectic repertoire from masterworks to contemporary choral and often features solo performers from among its fifty voices. The ensemble is ably lead by its Artistic Director, Dr. Cristian Grases, who also serves as associate professor of choral music at the USC Thornton School of Music.
