EONS (Eyes On Nest Sites), a public education and outreach program that conducts monitoring of the endangered California Least Tern and threatened Western Snowy Plover during their breeding season at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, begins April 1st, 2017. EONS volunteers will record observations of these nesting birds as well as any wildlife activity by other birds and predators. This data will then be analyzed by the Bolsa Chica Conservancy as well as the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to determine strategies for increased success of these protected species. Individuals interested in participating as an EONS volunteer are invited to two training sessions to prepare for this monitoring season.
