Showcasing “a powerful vision of humanity and compassion” (Courier Mail), acrobats strive to connect with each other, while music from Monteverdi’s opera Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria (The Return of Ulysses to his Homeland) is played and sung by a live chamber ensemble. Akin to the physical poem, seven highly skilled artists precariously lift, hold, levitate and fall – their exquisite movements driven by forces of desire, devastation, and absence. According to the Courier Mail, the performance “touches us in the deepest and most human way.”
Il Ritorno is created by circus visionary Yaron Lifschitz in collaboration with composer and arranger Quincy Grant and the Circa Ensemble.
