Topic - Pruning Fruit Trees - The Basics
Learn the best time to prune stone fruit trees, citrus trees and avocado trees in Southern California. Isabel Barkman will cover the basics of pruning and why the pruning season here is different than the rest of the country and will also prepare attendees for the hands-on fruit pruning workshop in January.

Speaker - Isabel Barkman, Master Gardener & California Rare Fruit Growers
Isabel Barkman has been a UCCE Master Gardener (MG) since 1999 and volunteers at the South Coast Research and Extension Center in Irvine working with various fruit tree orchards. A member of California Rare Fruit Growers (CRFG) since 1991, she has served as a group representative and expert for answering questions from the public at numerous plant and gardening events. Isabel also conducts grafting and pruning demonstrations for MG and CRFG classes.

A Note to Parents: The Centennial Farm is open to the public 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on this day. However, we ask that children not be left unattended in the Farm while you are enjoying the Garden Class. Classes are intended for participants 16 years and older only.
