The landscape of hip hop and rap has changed dramatically in the past few years. Now, West Coast rules the roost, but at its origins, hip hop emanated from the east. One of the genres first oversized personalities was Biz Markie. Known as much for his antics offstage as he was for his fun raps, the Biz continues to cut a beloved figure within many circles. After all, “Just a Friend” still gets played at weddings, quinceañeras, Bar Mitzvahs and everything in between. Now, the 53-year-old New Jersey native is bringing his DJing skills to the House of Blues where he’ll serve as the main attraction, bridging the pop music of both distinctly different decades with two sets. If there’s anyone that can bridge these two distinct sounds, it’s a man who remains a fixture across multiple TV and radio networks.
