    Squires Inn

714 E. Whittier Blvd. La Habra, CA 90631

http://Squires Inn (4425150) Don't strut into the Squires Inn expecting Buckingham Palace: you might get a dart thrown at your neck. This place is for serious drinkers who want to enjoy a game of pool on one of three tables. The room is small and dimly lit, and seating choices are simple—grab a small table in the corner or belly up to the bar. Stiff drinks are served in the full bar and there's a small selection of beers in bottles and on draft—think Newcastle and Budweiser. More >>

  • StubHub Center

    StubHub Center

18400 Avalon Blvd. Carson, CA 90746

As of June 1, 2013, the former Home Depot Center in Carson officially became the StubHub Center, a South Bay home for soccer, music and more. It's part of a larger push by ticketing giant StubHub to raise its brand profile. The 27,000-seat complex includes an 8,000-seat tennis court and a wooden velodrome, the banked cycling tracks of the kind found at the Olympics. The outdoor soccer-specific field, home to L.A.'s own Galaxy, is the largest in all of Major League Soccer, which is why you'll regularly find international friendlies against the likes of FC Barcelona or Manchester United played here. Other nights, you might find the Summer X Games or even the Warped Tour taking over the large parking lot. More >>

    The Sweat Spot

3327 Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90026
323-953-8089 If you ever "just need to dance it out," head to the Sweat Spot dance studio in Silver Lake. Run by choreographer Ryan Heffington, the small studio is a bare-bones love letter to movement. There are no motivational posters on the white walls, just pounding rhythms and Heffington's sharp instructions cutting through the noise. Drop-in classes, like the perennially popular Sweaty Sundays, offer the rhythmically challenged a chance to learn a few moves and shed some pounds, while more targeted classes like Rock 'N' Roll Ballet cater to a smaller crowd. But with prices set less than $15 for any individual class, there's little reason not to try them all. More >>

  • Two Wheels One Planet

24844 Muirlands Blvd. Lake Forest, CA 92630
949-581-8900 Two Wheels One Planet, which has shops in Costa Mesa and Lake Forest and is rooted in a company that has been serving Orange County cyclists since 1959, represents the best of both sales and repair worlds. The inventory is massive, but so are the choices in types of bikes and range of prices. You can go in, say, for a beach cruiser you don't want to spend more than a couple of hundred dollars for, and a knowledgeable staffer will shuffle you over to the rows of bikes fitting your needs. By the way, Two Wheels One Planet hires actual riders. You see their bikes in the racks outside (also, thankfully, freeing up more parking spaces for cars). Tell them you want the best, and they'll gladly point them out. You won't be upsold or downsold, and whatever you buy, the staff will encourage you to bring it back in a few months for a free tune-up and to make sure everything's hunky-dory. More >>

  • UC Irvine Anteater Stadium

    UC Irvine Anteater Stadium

    1 W. Peltason Drive Irvine, CA 92602
949-824-9467 Anteater Stadium is a 2,500 seat multi-purpose stadium on the campus of University of California, Irvine in Irvine. It’s where the Anteaters play baseball, a team that has gotten better and better under many coaches. Also part of the national conversation is senior forward Amani Walker, who would lose to Thompson here if we went to the second tie-breaker: best nickname. Unfortunately for Freight Train and the rest, the first tie-breaker is: Player who looks most like he could play bass in Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. As a junior, dreadlocked reggae fan Walker was named to the Soccer America Men's Team of the Week, to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, the Big West Player of the Week and the UCI College Classic Most Valuable Player. He's picked up the ball and kicked it into the net this season as well. Yugga yugga yooo you! More >>
