    714-893-8542

http://International Billiards (6328 Westminster Blvd.) International Billiards is a friendly neighborhood pool hall, perfect for the whole family, if you don't mind exposing the kids to varieties of liquor. The modest-sized establishment packs 15 pool tables, two foosball tables, two arcade games and one dartboard. The bar pours from a limited drink selection, mostly martinis and mojitos, but sports a large bottled-beer selection. Pints start at $2.50 for domestics and $3 for imported; mixed drinks range from $8 to $10. A few couches and tables line the perimeter of the room and a few TVs sit behind the wall. More >>

    Irvine Lake Cafe

http://www.irvinelake.net Irvine Lake Café is in Irvine Lake in Orange. Okay, so it's not a real lake. But almost. The big blue body o' water formerly known as the Santiago Reservoir was formed by the Santiago Dam (built by none other than, you guessed, the Irvine Co.) in 1931 and was opened to all for fishing fun 10 years later. The Santiago Creek still feeds the 750-acre lake, which sits in a serene wooded area off Santiago Canyon Road; this flow makes for catches of the huge blue catfish during the summer months. But alas, this is Orange County, and what is Orange County without a dash of man-made madness? The lake is also stocked with rainbow, brown, California, gold, steelhead and brook trout between the fall and late spring. So if you rent a boat any time during the year, you're sure to come home with something. Great hot dogs. More >>

  • The Islands Golf Center

    The Islands Golf Center

    14893 E. Ball Road Anaheim, CA 92806
    714-630-7888

http://www.theislandsgolfcenter.com The Islands Golf Center is in Anaheim. Imagine hitting golf balls over a placid sea while aiming for lush green islands that peek through crystal-blue water. Imagine the splash of the water when the island is missed—and the feeling of accomplishment you'd get when that friendly plunk was absent. Such a place would be a regular golfers' paradise. Now, you may be thinking that this place sounds too good to be true, but it exists right here in Orange County. And the Islands Golf Center kicks major ass. After all, hitting golf balls onto plain ol' grass is so last season. This section of Anaheim also has a lake for fishing, and a regular course so you can get in nine holes before practicing again. What’s also awesome about this place is that it’s super-cheap and attracts all sorts of people from Orange County, and even a couple from the Inland Empire. More >>
