  • Evocal Store

    814 W. 19th St. Costa Mesa, CA 92627
    949-642-4548

Equal parts venue, boutique and gallery, eVocal is just one slice of the Costa Mesa art scene. With its relatively unintrusive wood-paneled exterior, once you make your way inside, you'll find a boutique hawking all sorts of handmade, one-of-a-kind goods, from clothing to jewelry. Hardwood floors then lead you to a performance space with art lining the walls. The small stage often hosts local favorites (hip-hop, rock, folk and more) and open mic nights. The best part, though, is the large, decorated outdoor patio in the back overflowing with artwork, allowing for freestanding bars during events. More >>

  • Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall

Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall

615 Town Center Drive Costa Mesa, CA 92626
    714-556-2787

http://www.scfta.org The Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall is a performing arts venue in Costa Mesa. The 2,000-seat hall, an estimated $240 million expansion of the Orange County Performing Arts Center, is a delirium-inducing cocktail of scale, architecture and acoustics. The three-tiered hall, which opened last year, was designed with aural pleasure in mind. It boasts an acoustic canopy, reverberation chambers and sound-sponging curtains to deaden certain frequencies from loudspeakers, when they are used. This world-class venue has already hosted renowned entertainers such as Placido Domingo and the American Ballet Theater, and it will likely continue to draw some of the most famous icons of highbrow entertainment for years to come. It’s also the home of the Pacific Symphony run by Carl St. Clair, and always brings in other big orchestras. We’re still waiting, though, for them to restage all of Beethoven’s symphonies the way they did years ago, you know? More >>

    Segerstrom Center for the Arts

600 Town Center Drive Costa Mesa, CA 92626
    714-556-2787

http://www.scfta.org Segerstrom Center for the Arts is unique as both an acclaimed arts institution and as a multi-disciplinary cultural campus. To put it bluntly, it’s the classiest venue in the whole damn county. Previously called the Orange County Performing Arts Center, Segerstrom Center traces its roots back to the late 1960s, when a dedicated group of community leaders decided Orange County should have its own world-class performing-arts venue that brings in national ballet and theater companies. In addition to the 3,000-seat Segerstrom Hall and intimate 250-seat Founders Hall, which opened in 1986, and the 1,704-seat Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall (opened in 2006) also houses the 500-seat Samueli Theater, the Lawrence and Kristina Dodge Education Center’s studio performance space and Boeing Education Lab. Home to newer institutions like the Off Center Festival that manage to bring in the coveted 25 and under crowd, the center has come a long way toward making this upscale culture palace a place for everyone to enjoy.
