http://www.gallagherspub.com If you're looking for an Irish pub in downtown Huntington Beach, Gallagher's rocks the vibe. Decked out in dark wood floors, stools and bar top, this spot is known for its proximity to the Pacific, live entertainment from Irish-flavored bands such as the American Wake, and stiff drinks from a full bar. For those who prefer sudsier libations, Gallagher's also have a moderate selection of draft brews, some with Irish flair such as Stella and Guinesss, and some enjoyed by long-descended offspring of the Emerald Isle (i.e. PBR.) http://www.thegaslamprestaurant.com Gaslamp Restaurant & Bar is an amalgam of imbibery and live music venue. The sizable stage is home to live evening music acts. Eighties tribute band Knyght Ryder is a Friday night staple while DNA has a Thursday residency of kitsch covers, (think "Afternoon Delight"). Gaslamp has a gothic-chic feel with its wrought iron embellishments and touches of red lighting. The beer is bottled and the bar is fully stocked. Aside from $3 happy hour specials on beer and well drinks, libations run an average of $7. More >>
http://www.genghiscohen.com A large restaurant with a full bar and live music, Genghis Cohen is a place to eat New York-style Szechwan food on white tablecloths in big, black booths. One of its best-known dishes is the thick, deep-fried New York-style egg rolls, but its large menu also includes things like sizzling rice soup, Mongolian beef and shrimp with lobster sauce. Since 1990, the cozy adjoining music room, which is decorated with red lanterns and seats 60 about people, has featured singer-songwriters. More >>
http://www.livenation.com/gibson-amphitheatre-at-universal-citywalk-tickets-universal-city/venue/73787 Perched on a hill in Universal City between the Valley and Hollywood, the Gibson Amphitheatre is part of the sprawling Universal Studios and Citywalk theme park. At one time, the venue was an outdoor amphitheater called the Universal Amphitheatre, hosting concerts by classic-rock icons like the Kinks, Linda Ronstadt and Neil Young. Later, a roof was put over the theater as part of a major redesign, and eventually the room was renamed Gibson Amphitheatre after its current sponsor, the legendary guitar company. More >>
http://www.theglasshouse.us Alright, so Pomona isn't exactly the closest city to most of us. But the drive may be worth it just to see some amazing talent perform in a non-L.A. venue. Regularly hosting bands like the Black Keys, Rilo Kiley and Blonde Redhead, it's no wonder that this moderately sized venue will often sell out. The Glass House is all-ages, so no booze but they do have decent pizza, not to mention a great sound system. More >>
http://www.goodhurt.net In the past decade, Good Hurt has become West Los Angeles' longest-running live rock nightclub. Its fiery red interior creates an appropriately lurid mood for a wide range of music, from funk and indie rock to techno and reggae. The club's weekly Medicinal Mondays showcase features a "Rock & Pole" show in which beautiful dancers twist and contort themselves suggestively and athletically around a pole to the live accompaniment of the house band Big Lovin' Panda. Adding to the bar's sexy vibe, waitresses dress up in nurses' uniforms to serve special drinks like the Transfusion. Vintage posters of cultural icons like Marvin Gaye and Pam Grier adorn the club's red walls alongside mounted white first-aid kits, and a bright neon sign emblazoned with the word "Prescriptions" hangs prominently over the full bar to beckon patrons who need a shot of salvation. Street parking available. Ages 21 & over. More >>
http://www.ocgp.org For all the manicured sterility that exists in Irvine’s expensive crown jewel known as the Great Park, there’s plenty of flavor to be found if you look hard enough at the concert schedule. As the warm weather increases, so do the chances of catching everything from classically-trained composers to Salsa dancers twirling to Poncho Sanchez and punk rock soirees like the Warped Tour, all taking place in a giant sprawl of lawn or at the Palm Courts Arts Complex. Plans to bring in a Goldenvoice event to the park have been in thr works for years now. When that happens, get ready for the official re-birth of what will easily be the hippest place in Irvine. http://www.greektheatrela.com Nestled in a tree-lined Los Feliz canyon in Griffith Park at the base of a hill that leads up to Griffith Observatory, the Greek Theatre is one of Los Angeles' most popular and enduring open-air amphitheaters. With a seating capacity of 5800, the Greek is more intimate than the Hollywood Bowl, and it has better sound than most local outdoor venues. Designed by architect Frederick Heath and paid for by the controversial industrialist (and Griffith Park namesake) Griffith J. Griffith, the amphitheater opened in 1929, hosting seasonal summer concerts and Broadway shows. Because the Greek is part of Griffith Park, it's owned by the City of Los Angeles, but it's managed by the local promoters Nederlander-Greek Inc. The venue has been the site of many famous concerts, including Neil Diamond's 1972 live album, Hot August Nights. (It was also the setting for the 2010 comedy Get Him to the Greek.) Diamond was among the first to salute "the tree people," the unofficial designation for those folks who listen to concerts for free on a hillside just outside the Greek's back gate. Over the years, Neil Young, the Pretenders, the White Stripes, the Talking Heads, the B-52's, Cat Power, Paul Simon, Neko Case, Ringo Starr, Elton John, the Sex Pistols, Alison Krauss, the Screaming Trees, Youssou N'Dour, the Go-Go's, Florence & the Machine, Robert Plant and many other celebs have performed under the stars in this decidedly laid-back setting. The Greek has several full bars and food concessions, and the adjoining space called the Redwoods is a sylvan environment for pre-show parties and mixers. Most of the available parking is stacked parking on the surrounding grass fields, but preferential parking (with easier access) is also available for a higher price. All ages. More >>
