Nadine's Irish Mist

Nadine's Irish Mist

The live bands and karaoke nights hosted at Nadine's usually lay waste to Sunset Beach's sleepy reputation. But it's all in good fun at this rocking Irish pub.
Schooner at Sunset

Schooner at Sunset

Don't let the nautical theme fool you, there will be no stale grog served here. Rather you can choose from a sizable offering of craft brews and signature cocktails.
Crow's Cocktail's

Crow's Cocktail's

Yes this place holds about 50, but don't worry, handsome mirrors lend this joint the illusion of size. Enjoy a full bar, brews on tap and the eloquence of dive chic.

  • JT Schmid

    JT Schmid's Restaurant & Brewery

    2610 E. Katella Ave. Anaheim, CA 92806
714-634-9200 From a light and flowery India Pale Ale to a deep, rich and bitter stout, JT Schmid's is a local brewer that pours its own hand-crafted beers just like others in its genre. Their house Hef is lemony and sips as refreshingly as a summer breeze. Happy Hours are the time to come and enjoy a pint in the company of friends, co-workers, or that pre-first date meet-up you'd rather not do at Starbucks. If you didn't know the place was brewery/restaurant, you'd half expect them to serve expensive steaks--the dining room is stylishly dark. The fried foods are excessively portioned, designed to keep you munching and thirsty enough to ask for more beer. Only this Tustin store offers the Happy Hour deals--something the older Anaheim store doesn't. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

  • The Juke Joint

    The Juke Joint

    735 N. Anaheim Blvd. Anaheim, CA 92805
714-778-1397 Every good rocker bar needs not only a steady stream of dudes clad in tight jeans and leather vests, but also a dose of the lovely rocker-chick aesthetic: a mix of 1950s girliness (red lipstick, very high heels, sky-high bouffants) and modern-day feminist rebel (select body piercings and fiery tattoos). The Juke Joint has both, all hanging out in a long, narrow, boxcar-shaped, predominantly black space that offers great views of the axe-wielding ass-kickers on stage. (DJs? What are those?) And the rawk goes down much smoother with one of those huge, cold bottles of $6 Croatian beer from the Joint's lively bartenders. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

  • Lemon Twist Lounge

    Lemon Twist Lounge

    2822 W. Ball Road Anaheim, CA 92804
714-827-6500 Though it's a dive, the Lemon Twist Lounge is clean and well-maintained. Everything about this spot screams utility, from its four perfectly spaced pool tables to its immaculate vacuumed carpet. The bar attracts a unique blend of locals, from younger couples and pool enthusiasts to gray-haired pool sharks. The acoustic popcorn ceiling is painted jet black, and the back wall is adorned with Marine Corps and POW flags. The full bar serves a modest selection of tap and bottled brews, including Shock Top, Bud Light and Coors. And the jukebox blasts everything from UB40 to Beyoncé. • Press Box

    Press Box

    480 N. Glassell St. Anaheim, CA 92806

The Press Box is an all-American sports bar off the 91 freeway. Nine big-screens and two dozen smaller TVs broadcast a variety of games, drawing in a steady crowd of regulars. The Press Box also features a room with an oversized dance floor; this section of the Box feels like a dance hall and is readily available to rent for parties. Currently, a DJ spins top 40 jams for Saturday night revelers. The walls are adorned with sports kitsch, there are three pool tables and pretty barmaids rock the referee look. The bar serves up a $3.75 margarita daily, but the E-Ticket shot is a must. A seemingly dangerous mix of vodka, gin, rum, triple sec, peach schnapps, Chambord, amaretto, sweet & sour and cranberry the E-Ticket is not as sweet as one might think, very smooth and mighty tasty. • Rio Vista Inn

Want to double your drinking pleasure? Head over to the dark, divey-yet-friendly Rio Vista Inn, and you'll be seeing double whether or not you're drunk. A single building divided into two bars, the front half hosts draft beers and two pool tables. Try a pint of Newcastle, or the ever-delicious wheat ale Shock Top. If hard alcohol is your thing, the backroom has what you crave. Here, you can enjoy karaoke, a small dance floor and ice-cold Jäger shots. All in all, this is an ideal spot to raise a glass. 3025 E. Lamesa Ave. Anaheim, CA 92806

  • Throwbacks Sports Bar & Grill

1759 Claudina Way Anaheim, CA 92805
714-533-3813 The place to pre-party before a home game for the Halos, Throwbacks has 16 taps, including Alaskan, Fat Tire and Firestone. Or go for the game special: free parking, a hot dog and a beer before the game; a free shuttle ride to and from; and a beer on the way back-all for $10. The beer-and-wine license means all its "cocktails" are built on soju, so stick to beer. Non-game nights feature varying specials, ranging from "empty the keg" nights (Mondays) to Taco Tuesdays with $1 chicken tacos. Go in with patience on a game night, though; it gets slammed! • Venetian Gentlemen

    Venetian Gentlemen's Club

1421 N. State College Blvd. Anaheim, CA 92806
714-808-8500 Venetian Gentlemen’s Club is in Anaheim, which has always been the center of the strip-club industry in Orange County. Whether for of all the conventioneers and professional sports players who need to get their jollies after a day at the office or the city's working-class makeup—Latino or white, Asian or Arab, sometimes Tube8 just won't do and you need an actual girl whispering sweet nothings in your ear while loving you legally. And while the city has some long-established clubs, the relatively young Venetian Gentlemen's Club has already made its mark as the leader, not just for its gorgeous gals, not just for its classy atmosphere and proximity to the 91 freeway, but also for honest-to-goodness food and an affordable price point for dances—an important factor for its customers affected by the Great Recession. They are famous for their sushi bar, which isn’t a ghastly metaphor but an honest-to-goodness sushi bar—go figure! Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

  • Wine Country Trattoria

    Wine Country Trattoria

  • Xalos Bar

    Xalos Bar

    1160 N. Kraemer Blvd. Anaheim, CA 92806
714-632-0390 If Xalos Bar were a character from a play, it would be Blanche Dubois from Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire. The venue definitely looks better at night with assistance from some innovative lighting. Variously colored walls and a thatch-roof taco stand work to create a festive atmosphere, but might throw off clubbers expecting classier decor. The crowd is predominantly local and gets rather dense on weekends after 10 p.m. Xalos is equipped with a full bar and although the tenders might not keep on top of their specials, they can certainly whip up a decent classic.
