Nadine's Irish Mist

Nadine's Irish Mist

The live bands and karaoke nights hosted at Nadine's usually lay waste to Sunset Beach's sleepy reputation. But it's all in good fun at this rocking Irish pub.
Schooner at Sunset

Schooner at Sunset

Don't let the nautical theme fool you, there will be no stale grog served here. Rather you can choose from a sizable offering of craft brews and signature cocktails.
Crow's Cocktail's

Crow's Cocktail's

Yes this place holds about 50, but don't worry, handsome mirrors lend this joint the illusion of size. Enjoy a full bar, brews on tap and the eloquence of dive chic.

  • The Buccaneer Lounge

    The Buccaneer Lounge

70 W. Sierra Madre Blvd. Sierra Madre, CA 91024
    626-355-9045

Sometimes, you just want to see pirate décor, and when that urge strikes, you should get in your car and drive up to the Buccaneer Lounge in Sierra Madre. The dive bar is bedecked with portraits of Blackbeard and his wenches, as well as a 30-foot, glow-in-the-dark mural behind the bar, featuring scenes on a pirate ship and in a tavern, bare-breasted concubines and all. That, combined with healthy pours, a pool table and a jukebox, make this one of the best dives around. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

    260 S. Brea Blvd. Brea, CA 92821
    714-582-1590

http://www.buffalowildwings.com Buffalo Wild Wings was founded in 1982 when a guy from Buffalo, New York traveled to Ohio to judge an amateur figure skating competition and failed to find any wings that measured up to the ones at home. • The Bull Bar

    The Bull Bar

3316 E. Seventh St. Long Beach, CA 90804
    562-433-6282

http://www.bullbarlongbeach.com Serving up draft beers and mixed drinks, the Bull Bar stands out between the Drapery Store and a Starbucks. Dimly lit and narrow, the place can feel a little cramped, especially when it gets crowded on weekends. But the bartenders have an antidote for claustrophobia: strong drinks at a reasonable price. A typical cocktail such as a 7 and 7 will set you back $5. Entertainment comes in the form of four TVs, two pool tables and live entertainment Thursdays through Sundays. Join the other patrons by decorating a dollar bill and adding it to the collection displayed on the walls of the joint. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

  • The Butterfly Lounge

    The Butterfly Lounge

    719 W. 19th St. Costa Mesa, CA 92627
    949-642-2243

http://www.butterflylounge.com Located in a Costa Mesa industrial park that also houses Jugos Acapulco and Gloria's Mexican Food, Butterfly Lounge is California’s first size-acceptance club, and still one of the precious few around in Southern California. Mainly, it's a BBW (Big Beautiful Woman) club, but the less-Rubenesque are welcome, too. There isn’t much in terms of food other than eye candy, but the drinks are great and the women get much love from all the people who go—and there are many people who go. On any Saturday night, you'll find several big-bootied honeys gyrating on the small, wooden dance floor. On one visit, when the DJ switched from Naughty By Nature's "O.P.P." to Gwen Stefani's "Harajuku Girls," streamers and balloons filled the club. Each Saturday, there's an ass-shaking contest. Whether you're a BBW, a chubby chaser or a scrawny Sally, the $10 cover charge is well worth the good music, fun atmosphere and lively partiers. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

  • Cabo Grill & Cantina

    Cabo Grill & Cantina

    301 N. Brea Blvd. Brea, CA 92821
    714-529-2540

http://www.cabogrillcantina.com Housed in a tiny adobe-style building north of Downtown Brea, the Cabo Grill and Cantina is possibly one of the city's more unassuming drinking establishments. And because of its diminutive stature, even a small crowd can give this place the vibe of a rowdy juke joint. Under the unblinking eye of three flat screen televisions, the full bar serves up a bevvy of tequila-based drinks including mango margaritas and a quirky Herradura and tonic combo known as a TNT. The taps dispense pints of Dos Equis and Coors Light with obligatory bottles of Corona and lime available. Happy hour is 3 to 8p.m. daily and features half-off margaritas, well drinks and appetizers. 34085 Pacfic Coast Highway Dana Point, CA 92629
    949-493-0549

http://www.calientecoastalcantina.com Though the beach theme suggested by the name is present-think longboards affixed to the walls--the architectural aesthetics are clean and chic. The dark-varnished wood-plank floors perfectly match the wood of the walls, the room's supporting pillars are covered in shiny tiles, and large windows open to sweeping views of PCH below. The bar serves a modest selection of beers, including Dos Equis, Widmer Hefeweizen and Negra Modelo, in addition to a full liquor offering. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

  • California Girls

    California Girls

1109 N. Harbor Blvd. Santa Ana, CA 92703
    714-554-0491

The California Girls in Santa Ana is a full-nude strip club (the Anaheim location is topless), which means there is no alcohol served, only energy drinks, water and soda. There is a one-drink minimum and a $10 cover charge, but if you're going to California Girls, you pretty much know what you're getting into. The small stage is lit with red and blue LED lights flashing off the mirrored wall and brass pole. It's lined with a table and black-velvet seats for patrons preferring a front-row viewpoint. The VIP room houses a dozen red-velvet booths for private dances; the standard rate is $10 for alone time with one of the club's dancers, but specials are announced by the DJ randomly throughout the night. • Campus Billiards

    Campus Billiards

9111 valley view Cypress, CA 90630
    714-952-2731

http://www.campus-billiards.com This joint is well-named: It stands next to Cypress College and offers nine pool tables, as well as a shuffleboard table and loads of dartboards. A large-screen TV divides the utilitarian space housing all of the games, creating a separate lounge area. Here, thirsty hustlers can kick back on a couch and watch a game. Those who don't want to take a break from the action can keep one eye on the score between shots to the corner pocket. Pool tables are available for $8.50 per hour after 7 p.m., but Mondays are a score with $1.75-per-hour rentals. The bar features 18 beers on tap and a variety of wines. There are daily deals on pints and schooners of beer averaging $3, as well as discounts for students-with an ID, of course. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

  • Cantina Lounge

    Cantina Lounge

    2736 E. Nutwood Ave. Fullerton, CA 92831
    714-879-8094

http://www.cantinalounge.com This Fullerton favorite is a Mexican restaurant, sports bar and club all rolled into one. Sports lovers get a bar area with booth seating (each equipped with its own personal TV), as well as an 8' HD television that broadcasts all the major sporting events, including those on pay per view. The full bar serves up a large array of beers on tap including Shock Top, Blue Moon Coors Light and more. For those wanting to take their drinking to the next level, Cantina offers the option of buying a 21 ounce "tower of beer." Thursday through Saturday nights the lounge transforms into a two-room club with dance floors that get bumpin' at 10 p.m. sharp. Local DJs and live performers keep the party going with up-beat dance hits and Top-40 favorites. For a more intimate setting, go out to one of the two outdoor patios complete with communal fire pits for mingling late into the night. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

  • Cassidy

    Cassidy's Bar and Grill

2603 Newport Blvd. Newport Beach, CA 92663
    949-675-8949

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cassidys-Bar-Grill/79128552008 Oh, crunchy, fatty bliss that is Cassidy’s cheeseburger: a perfectly toasted bun, patty as thick as your thumb, with large pickles and a smear of secret sauce adding necessary tartness, the cheddar cheese melting so that it looks like plastic but tastes almost silken. They do put a bit too much lettuce, but the resultant crunch reminds you why lettuce is a part of the hamburger equation in the first place—every bite unleashes freshness, adds texture, becomes as refreshing as a wet napkin on the face during a muggy day. There’s no need for fries—a massive bag of Have’A Chip, spiked with their tangy house barbecue sauce, will do. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

http://www.catandcustardcup.com La Habra's toniest (read: priciest) restaurant: Nothing on the dinner menu is less than $15. Fancy-prepared American food in an English-pub setting (though it's quite a bit larger than a typical English pub). Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

  • Catalina Bar & Grill

    Catalina Bar & Grill

6725 W. Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90028
    323-466-2210

http://www.catalinajazzclub.com Catalina Bar & Grill is one of Los Angeles' top jazz clubs, even if it's housed in a decidedly non-glamorous red-brick edifice that looks like a generic Hollywood office building. Once you're inside, though, after entering through the garage in back, the spacious room is much more inviting, with tables decked out in elegant white tablecloths pressed up against a low stage in front of a red velvet curtain. The walls are tastefully decorated with paintings and photos of legendary jazz musicians, and the landmark venue has hosted some of the biggest names in traditional, mainstream jazz, including Chick Corea, Ella Fitzgerald, McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Scott, Pharoah Saunders, Jane Monheit, Roy Hargrove, Carmen McRae, Joe Zawinul, Joshua Redman, the Marsalis brothers, and an impressive variety of stellar Carters (Ron, Betty, Benny and even Wonder Woman's Lynda). It's a great place to hear music, although the drinks, admission, valet parking and cover minimums can be quite pricey. The kitchen serves similarly expensive entrees, including trout almondine and shrimp scampi pasta, but most visitors come for the live music instead of the food. All ages. Full bar. http://www.centerfieldsportsbar.com Located a short driving distance from Huntington Beach's main drag, Centerfield Sports Bar & Grill feels like it's a world away from the teeming downtown scene. Sports other than surfing are king here, and the crowd is well-behaved. The large room's windows are bedecked with handsome wooden shutters, and 20 flat-screen TVs adorn the walls. The respectable offering of brews on tap includes Pyramid Hef, PBR and Longboard ale; a full complement of liquors is also available. Other distractions include three pool tables, the ever-addictive video game Golden Tee and two dartboards. Enthusiasts of this last game might find themselves doing a double take, as the boards at Centerfield are the real deal-totally analog. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>
