http://www.silvera-steakhouse.com David Silvera, former drummer for nu-metal band Korn, opened this upscale Chicago chop house in 2007. Although his former occupation might imply loud and obnoxious, Silvera's is anything but, veering to the extreme opposite with hip-hop, Dean Martin and Madonna interwoven into the musical repertoire. It's classy and dark, attentive service beginning at the door, with an escort by a suited gentleman no less. Then there are the inventive and lethal martinis in the martini lounge, appetite-whetting starters (try the five-cheese plate and crab-cake appetizer), mouth-watering steaks (of which the tender and juicy bone-in "cowboy" rib eye is a perennial favorite and as good as any you'd get at Fleming's or Morton's), and tasty sides (a five-cheese macaroni laced with bacon bits sparkles). Best of all, the Huntington Beach location means that even with flip-flops being sin couture, Hawaiian shirts and khakis still pass the casually dressy test. http://www.thesilverlakelounge.com For many years, this longtime Silver Lake bar has presented transgender Latino shows. The cozy, narrow bar is dark, the small stage is low, and the sound system is basic, but the club's iconic neon "Salvation" sign has beckoned adventurous groups for more than a decade, including Metric, Nellie McKay, Les Baton Rouge, Wye Oak, Liz Pappademas and Mr. Gnome. Indie-rock promoters the Fold were based here for many years before giving away to other booking agents. Seating is available at the bar and on a long bench along the wall, with Chinese lanterns giving the dimly lit room a little bit of festive color. Full bar. Ages 21 & over. Parking available in a small adjoining lot and on the street. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>
http://www.simmzys.com There are no walls at Simmzy’s. No really, there aren’t any outside walls. Every seat along the border of this street-corner bar-cum-restaurant is essentially on the sidewalk. There used to be two presumably non-load-bearing facades enclosing the space that was once the Shore House Cafe, but that might as well be a million years ago. This, you think to yourself, is what all present and future of pubs should look like, where there are no visible boundaries between your well-drunk glass of ale and the street. Because of it, the place seems to have a magnetic pull. Whether you’re driving by or walking by, you see that everyone’s here, curvy vessels of beer in hand, pizza pies between them—so why aren’t you? Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>
http://www.marriott.com This bar embodies that seeming contradiction that makes Long Beach a great city: Behind its edgy, urban ambiance is a feeling of casual friendliness. It's located in the heart of downtown, inside the 12-floor, nearly 400-room Renaissance Long Beach hotel, but anyone can walk right in and order up one of its signature cocktails. Try the Cuban Society, a blend of Bacardi Razz rum with mint, raspberry and lime flavors. It also makes Aviations with Bombay Sapphire gin, Crème de Violette, lemon and Luxardo Maraschino. As a nod to its hotel environs, Sip also offers internationally inspired cocktails. And as the bartenders will tell you, all the juices used for cocktails are fresh-squeezed daily. Specialty beers-including Yellowtail, Calico Amber and McGarvey's Scottish Ale-sit alongside domestic faves such as Budweiser and Miller. Happy hour goes from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with drinks and appetizers running from $1 to $6. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>
http://www.skoshmonahans.com With its pictures of Irish castles and cocktail waitresses in tiny plaid skirts, Skosh Monahan's fits the description of an Irish pub. Befitting a bar inspired by the Emerald Isle, it's warm and inviting, even if it is owned by Costa Mesa Mayor Gary Monahan. The full bar is nicely outfitted with plush, cushioned booths surrounded by 12 plasma, flat-screen TVs beaming a variety of sporting events. Interestingly, the walls bear prints of famous starlets such as Audrey Hepurn and Liz Taylor. The beer selection here is ample with an assortment of micro brews, domestics and imports. Labels include: Ubita IPA, Blue Moon, Haywire Hefeweizen, Boddington's and Smithwick's. Happy hour is Tuesday through Friday 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and includes domestic pints at $3.75 and imports at $5.25. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>

Yes, it features two rooms where suicide-girl style bartendresses serve up cocktails along with imported and domestic draft beer. This is also one of the few downtown establishments presenting top-notch local and national rock acts of the punk, ska and hardcore variety. The walls of the bar are decked out with autographed rock memorabilia and lined with flat screen TVs.Be sure to check out the halls lined with pics taken by rock photographer Lisa Johnson. On the list of bikini bars in Orange County, Los Alamitos' Sportsman belongs at or near the top-due in no small part to the fact that the women are drop-dead gorgeous. That aside, the place is kept clean, neat and simple. The walls aren't adorned with useless kitsch or gaudy beer posters, and the wooden floors are complemented by red-brick walls whose sweeping arches are filled with large mirrors, creating the illusion of an even greater space. There are three pool tables and two electronic dartboards, as well as the video game Golden Tee. All suds come in a bottle, but there is a full bar. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>
Don't strut into the Squires Inn expecting Buckingham Palace: you might get a dart thrown at your neck. This place is for serious drinkers who want to enjoy a game of pool on one of three tables. The room is small and dimly lit, and seating choices are simple—grab a small table in the corner or belly up to the bar. Stiff drinks are served in the full bar and there's a small selection of beers in bottles and on draft—think Newcastle and Budweiser. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>
http://www.redondobrewery.com At the northern edge of Downtown Fullerton, in the Villa Del Sol building, Stadium Tavern is the last full-fledged bar in the iconic Orange County drinking district. Despite being decorated with assorted sports memorabilia and multiple flat-screen TVs, Stadium manages to be inviting to those with no interest in athletic events. The complimentary popcorn from a throwback air popper doesn't hurt. With a respectable selection of 32 beers on tap, full bar and a line of signature cocktails, Stadium has one of the most distinctive drink menus in Fullerton. Be sure to check out the Fullerton Lemonade, featuring a blend of Vodka, peach and rasberry Schnapps and lemonade, it packs a tasty punch. An outdoor patio, complete with heat lamps, looks out onto Wilshire Avenue. Happy hour is Monday through Friday, 4 to 6 p.m., with $2.50 domestics, $3.50 imports and $5 well drinks. http://www.trepanyhouse.org Tucked into Los Feliz's Center for Inquiry-West, the Trepany House at the Steve Allen Theater is an intimate performing venue that presents a wide array of concerts, plays, vaudeville and comedy. When the theater first began putting on shows, it focused on comedians like Dana Gould, Emo Philips, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Kids in the Hall, as well as theatrical productions and esoteric philosophical and metaphysical explorations by everyone from NASA scientists to members of the Church of Satan. Before long, the theater also brought in live musicians, including the daft ragtime diva Janet Klein, Lavender Diamond and the charming pop duo the Ditty Bops mingling with harder-edged sounds from Rancid and Dethklok. Added to the mix is the center's ongoing fascination with horror and film culture, with presentations and screenings by the likes of Toby Hooper, Joe Dante, David Cronenberg, Miranda July and James Franco. In homage to its namesake inspiration, the late comedian Steve Allen, the theater is an unusual nexus point of scientific curiosity and vaudevillian variety. http://www.stubriks.com A steakhouse that co-owner Craig Voorting says is "all about the steak." With the best damn steak this side of a factory town, as well as a pretty decent selection of white meat and seafood. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>
http://www.sundriedtomatocafe.com Rack of lamb is as ubiquitous in fancy American bistros as falafels in Middle Eastern bazaars, but the Sundried Tomato Cafe prepares a version fit for hoity-toity cavemen-meaty bones doused with a tart cranberry sauce, the lamb cooked to pink perfection. Great, zesty namesake cream soup as well. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>
http://www.sutraoc.com On weekend nights, Sutra is a typical club scene of hot bods rubbing to thumping beats, bathed with strobe lights, and soaked in booze. But there's another face to the restaurant-a quieter, more intimate side for those more interested in cuddling up with their honey, and less in picking up a new one. Feed each other things creatively cooked. Sip drinks immaculately mixed. Enjoy the romance. Thank us later. Read more about this Orange County bar or club >>
http://www.swallowsinn.com The Swallow's Inn, located near the Mission San Juan Capistrano, represents a bit of an anomaly in Orange County. There aren't many honky-tonks in the area, but if you're going to check out such a watering hole in the land of citrus, the Swallow's Inn is worth the drive. Small, with dark wooden tables and high chairs, it's not uncommon to see cowboy boots, big buckles and Stetson hats crowding the dance floor. The Swallow's boasts a full bar, as well as a nice selection of bottled beers and eight brews on tap. Yet what makes the Swallow's Inn special isn't the booze; it's the live entertainment occurring almost every night. The small stage hosts a bevy of up-and-coming national and local country acts. Even if you consider yourself less than a fan of country, we defy you stay off the dance floor--especially after you've had a couple of beers and a shot of Jack Daniel's.
