    Nickel! Nickel!

7454 Edinger Ave. Huntington Beach, CA 92647
    714-847-2191

http://www.nickelnickelhb.com Nickel! Nickel! is in Huntington Beach, and is one of the last left of a once-bustling chain that repurposed old arcade games for everyone to play for hours. What could be better than spending an afternoon eating cheap pizza and playing video games? Spending an afternoon eating cheap pizza and playing video games for only 5 cents apiece. For $3.50 regular admission ($1 on Tuesdays), OC residents can spend an afternoon in the cool air conditioning of several independently operated Nickel! Nickel!s playing their favorite arcade games for, that's right, a nickel. We like the Lake Forest location, which features more than 100 games to choose from, including Deal or No Deal, Slam a Winner and the ever-popular Guitar Hero III. With more than 20 games that are free to play and Papa John's pizza on site, the noisy, colorful arcade is a haven for hardcore gamers, birthday-party planners, and children ages 8 to 58. More >>

  • Oak Canyon Ranch

    Oak Canyon Ranch

5305 Santiago Canyon Road Silverado, CA 92676
    714-563-9778

http://www.james-events.com/oakcanyon.html Oak Canyon Ranch is a park in canyon areas of Orange County. If you’re an outdoor festival kind of person, Oak Canyon Ranch is the closest thing to God’s country you’re liable to find in OC. From Hootenanny to Punk Rock Picnic, there is no car show, carnival or hippie revival that doesn’t pass through here without stopping at this 100-acre property complete with camp sites, RV park, crystal blue lake and green grass (not the kind you roll up in the back of the van). Nestled in the mountains of Silverado Canyon, it’s far enough away to feel rural and unincorporated but close enough to a gas station that you’re not totally fucked without a map and compass. When there’s not a huge festival raging, it’s still a bucolic place to go camping and remind yourself that not all of Orange County is suburban nothingness. Really close to Modjeska. More >>

    Pomona Fairplex

    1101 W. McKinley Ave. Pomona, CA 91768

http://www.fairplex.com/fp For a long time, this expansive place in Pomona was known as the L.A. County Fairgrounds, and it's still the annual home of the L.A. County Fair, and has been ever since 1922. The 500-plus-acre facility includes Fairplex Park, a race track with a large adjoining grandstand, which is used in the late summer for the annual concert series, featuring such musicians as The B-52s, Al Green, Los Lobos, Demi Lovato, The Motels, Gloria Trevi, Heart, Earth WInd & Fire, Peter Frampton, Chaka Khan, Gretchen Wilson and Tower of Power. Owned by the County of L.A., the sprawling complex is also the site of a wide variety of conventions, music festivals, trade shows, car auctions, drag racing and other motorsports. More >>
