Yahya El-Hobb
(Long Live Love)

Chapman University continues its string of pique-your-interest special screenings this week with the Egyptian film Yahya El-Hobb (Long Live Love) . First released in Cairo in 1938, the romantic drama follows music student Nadya (played by the captivating Layla Murad) as she leaves her drab and dull fiance for her debonair neighbor, Fat’hi (a role played perfectly by Abd El-Wahhab, a famous Egyptian singer of the time). Obstacles abound, but in the end, love conquers all—some stories remain classic across time and culture. Presented by the Arabic Club and the Chapman University Department of Languages.
