Wolfmother

Wolfmother is a band that doesn’t really belong to the Aughts—more like the ‘60s and ‘70s, when Black Sabbath was first scaring the shit out of the Flower Power generation with its demonic riffs and heavy metal stomp, or when Led Zeppelin first made singing about Vikings and Norse gods cool. But nobody told Andrew Stockdale, the band’s lead singer, that throwing in fantastical and psychedelic elements to modern songs wouldn’t necessarily click with today’s music listeners. Luckily for him, Wolfmother stormed onto the scene with such a balls-out, heavy metal sound that nobody really cared how bad the band’s lyrics were. One of their first singles, “Woman,” won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2007, a testament to the passion the band brings to their live sets.
