WITNESS 9/11 Restrospective

It's been 10 years since nearly 3,000 people died in the September 11 attacks. From 2004 to 2009, Iranian-American photographer Yasmin Etemadi documented her personal experience with the subsequent political and social changes in a collection of images titled “WITNESS,” now on display at the Art Theatre. Over the years, Etemadi took iconic black and white photographs in New York and California that capture her feelings of displacement during a time of tremendous unrest as well as her attempt to redefine herself as an Iranian-American. Running through the end of the month, the exhibit curated by Michael Stearns kicks off this weekend with an artist’s reception on the anniversary of September 11.

Sun., Sept. 11, 5 p.m., 2011
