Up and Down

Love can already have a heavy effect on your psyche, and its safe to say that the best art out there was influenced by some kind of amour fou. But when Boris Eifman of the Eifman Ballet in St. Petersburg uses the psychological strain that love causes and expresses it through dance, well, then that's just a whole other level of communicating how crazy and silly this whole ordeal we put ourselves through is. Eifman's 'Up & Down' is true to its title as its dancers' sordid affairs take them on tailspins of rough chemical reactions in the brain exhibited in sophisticated dance moves. Set against the 1920s jazz age, there's even more energy and visual stimulation to experience from this rare dance troupe.
