Unpretentious Wine Thursday

“You can really distinguish the terroir in this vintage! Reminds me of summers spent in Tuscany!” You know who actually says crap like this at a wine tasting? An asshole. That's why we love Bourbon Street Bar and Grill's perfectly titled Unpretentious Wine Thursday. Once a month, the Fullerton venue features innovative wines (drinkable immediately upon opening the bottle!) paired with seasonal small plates. May's theme is Cajun Fusion Favorites and features vinos from Root 1 Wines. First up is a Sauvignon Blanc with gorgonzola-and-caper bruschetta, followed by Pinot Noir and shrimp jambalaya, Carmenere with Cajun penne pasta, and finally a Cabernet Sauvignon paired with a Cajun dog smothered in chicken gumbo. It's not for the snooty, refined palate. It's for our palate. And it reminds us of summers spent in OC.

Thursdays, 5:30 p.m. Starts: Feb. 20. Continues through July 17, 2014
