As the first decade of the twenty-first century slinks its way out of the party in shame, it’s hard not to get a little nostalgic for the ‘80s. Sure, it was another decade marked by questionable fashion choices, political conservatism and cultural constriction, but it seemed a few more glimmers of light shone through the cracks back then. Alternative culture seemed a little more deftly political. And dance music and punk respected each other’s boundaries for the most part. Well, Que Sera’s ‘80s dance club Mannequin featuring DJ Jermz is bringing those times back for those who long for the recreation of the Reagan Revolution, when they synths were brassy and the 808s brand new.
