The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus

There are a lot of interesting people who've sold their soul to the devil. You’ve got Robert Johnson (the great Delta blues guitar player) Brendan Frasier (from that movie with Elizabeth Hurley as the devil), and Dick Cheney. Giving into sin and power, well, it’s a story that’s as old as the cliffs in Laguna Beach. This week, the Hunger Artists Theater Company is tapping into this mythic story by heading way back with their performance of Christopher Marlow’s, The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus. This alternative OC theater likes to breath new life into the classics and they picked a perfect story filled with invisible men slapping the Pope; an old man macking it to Helen of Troy; and a scientist losing faith in logic and heading into the realm of black magic.

Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 9. Continues through Oct. 2, 2011
