The Plight Before Christmas

Choosing which traditional stagings of holiday classics to see this month can be wearisome, and sitting through them can be even more of a drag (especially if some of those offerings are in the form of sheep droppings, but we’re not mentioning any names). So, why not try a twisty take on Christmas? Then check out Long Beach’s gag-filled, Dickensian melodrama. You’ll cringe when Ebeneezer Humbug tries to get Felicity Fuzziwig to marry him, caw as he threatens the town with foreclosure and guffaw while watching him rail on wimpy old Bob Scratchit. A myriad of sight gags, song parodies and slapstick guarantees you one painfully punny evening.

Sundays, 2 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 5. Continues through Dec. 26, 2010
