The Lieutenant of Inishmore Opening Night Champagne Reception

You know it’s going to be a good time when a troupe warns that the first two rows of the audience may get splattered with fake blood. Set in Ireland, this dark comedy (pitch-black, really) follows the story of a brutal, violent man on a rampage after the accidental death of his beloved cat, Wee Thomas. There’s torture and bloodshed and flying body parts and, most important, fondness of cats. Written by Oscar-winning and Tony-nominated playwright Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, Six Shooter, The Pillowman), The Lieutenant of Inishmore has won London’s Olivier and Evening Standard awards and now comes to Long Beach to delight both carnage enthusiasts and cat-lovers.
