The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow

Jennifer Marcus is the heroine of The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow, a comedy written by Rolin Jones. The play, however, isn’t about human evolution as conventional wisdom might suggest. Instead, Marcus, an adopted 22-year-old Chinese-American girl and maniacal computer genius, decides to embark on a brave adventure to find her biological mother. But Marcus isn’t the one traveling to China, it’s her robotic replica named Jenny Chow—while Marcus controls the being from her bedroom thousands of miles away. Feelings of rejection by her adopted mother and a crippling case of obsessive-compulsive disorder and agoraphobia drive Marcus to realize her goals—but there are unintended consequences she must face along the way.
