The Great Gatsby NYE

Even though director Baz Luhrman’s summer 2013 hi-energy version of Scott Fitzgerald’s novel of 1920s decadence is long forgotten and failed to live up to dramatic expectations at the box office, no one can deny that every one and every thing in that cinematic stunt job looked goddamned fabulous. You are therefore requested to ditch the blasé dramatics and don some magnificent, modernist finery with flair, then cattily cavort ‘round the St. Regis to the vintage sounds of '80s cover band Flashback Heart Attack…wait. What? Yes, you may be wearing feather boas and pearls and bow-ties, but your band will be wearing read spandex pants and David Lee Roth hair. It’s a culture-clashy New Year’s Eve time warp—and they’ll probably play that, too—so don’t bemoan and complain. You like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy.
