The Amy Winehouse Experience

It all started with Beatlemania. Then Which One’s Pink?, Dred Zepplin and the list goes on—though it’s hard to top The Iron Maidens. But we need tribute bands, especially when the performer isn’t around anymore. (Except Michael Jackson. Stop bringing back Michael Jackson.) Amy Winehouse is a prime subject for revival, of course, because in her very short, tragic life, the fiery little thing wowed the collective pants off of the entire world. We all had such great hopes for her future years, and her loss is truly profound, especially for an industry woefully bankrupt of originality. Most of us never had the slightest chance of seeing Winehouse perform, though we wore out her records (“Rehab” is now the saddest song on the planet), but thanks to producer Denice Ramage-Klaus, a semblance of Winehouse in the form of Mia Karter & The Hits take the stage this Saturday and attempt to roll us Back to Black once more. Long live the beehive, baby.
