Swing State: A Musical Fable

While many theater houses gear up to start their 2013/2014 season in September, the Chance Theater presents thirsty theater-lovers a sneak peek at some possible new plays with their On the Radar reading series. Produced by Associate Artistic Director Jocelyn Brown, this single-night preview features one of several new works, perhaps even still in development. This month's selection is Swing State: A Musical Fable, with book and lyrics written by by Dana Yeaton and music composed by Sarah Figoten Wilson. Meet Bonnie, a religious kindergarten teacher on a mission to save her students' tiny souls—but when her back starts acting up, she comes across a new-age gay chiropractor from Brooklyn. Who knows? It could be the next Broadway smash—and you saw it first.
