Sweat it Out

The success of Los Angeles' Dengue Fever could have something to do with the group's blend of Cambodian pop and '60s pyschedelia heard on two EPs and three full-length records. Or maybe it's the band's inclusion on the soundtracks to Jim Jarmusch's 2005 film Broken Flowers and Matt Dillon's 2002 flick City of Ghosts . Or songs used in Showtime's Weeds . Or the 2005 documentary on the sextet, Sleepwalking Through the Mekong . The aforementioned all sit pretty on a résumé, but let's not forget two important aspects of the Dengue Fever mystery: singer Chhom Nimol's sultry voice and Nimol's stunning appearance. The jury's still out on which is sexier, but with a talent like her fronting a band, it would be damn near impossible not to receive some attention.
