Spirit of the Wind: A Studio Ghibli Tribute Show

Take flight with the spirit of Hayao Miyazaki's critically acclaimed animation films in Rothick Art Haus' latest (and sadly, last) pop culture art show paying tribute to the films of Miyazaki and his Studio Ghibli. Depicted in such films as Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, My Neighbor Totoro, Studio Ghibli films are marked by their strong political undercurrents of feminism, nature, pacifism and human relationships. Your favorite film will probably be depicted in some manner, but does anyone really have just one favorite Ghibli film? Just as with every Rothick show, artists from all over the world will present their own original pieces that feature just as much dynamism and imagination as the source material it takes from. With limited gallery hours after the opening, this will be a show not to miss.

Sat., Aug. 8, 6 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, noon. Starts: Aug. 8. Continues through Aug. 30, 2015
