Encompassing the passion and brilliance behind Smokey Robinsons 50 year run in the music industry could fill up more than a few volumes. Its the story of a boy from Detroit whose vocal gifts and tireless work ethic came to embody the Motown sound echoed though radio speakers, concert halls and television sets around the world. Its a story of an artist whose career has withstood the test of time, passed it with flying colors and gladly turned around to take it again. From his early days as Vice President of Motown Records and his part in the labels flagship group, the Miracles, to his long history as a Grammy-winning solo artist, Robinsons talent remains a defining voice in the birth of R&B. This week, the smoldering soul of this long-time legend comes to the Pacific Amphitheater, part of the OC Super Fairs summer concert series. Resurrecting old classics as well as tracks from his 2009 release, Time Flies When Your Having Fun, Robinson will have another chance to captivate a crowd the way only he can. And you have the honor of watching him do it.
