Sharp Men

The Black Keys are a two-piece that rip heavy electric blues with a dense boogie that reverbs into the hardest to reach parts of the soul. At his best, guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach belts out the sound of unrequited lust. But there’s an underlying vibrance to the band’s wails, one that made it seem natural for them to be working on their newest album, Attack and Release, with legend Ike Turner before his death. The songs left over from that project were handled by producer Danger Mouse (of Gnarls Barkley fame) and the result is the sound of the blues being nudged into new realms.
