Sept. 22 - Sept. 29
Thurs., Sept. 22
The Orange County Museum of Art goes off with like 20 different events, including the Animation Short Film Showcase (8:30 p.m.) and a special screening of the PBS series Art: 21—Art in the Twenty-First Century, followed by a discussion with Jessica Hamlin, director of education and outreach for Art: 21(5-7 p.m.). Okay. Maybe it's just two events. It seemed like a lot more in the press release. Orange County Museum of Art, 850 San Clemente Dr., Newport Beach, (949) 759-1122; www.ocma.net.
Saddle up to the Swallow's to see the honeyed (or whiskeyed) stylings of Miss Patty Booker. I'm probably going to be at this show, so if you're trying to avoid me, take note. 8:30 p.m. Free. 21+. Swallow's Inn, 31786 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, (949) 493-3188.
You know who can party? That's right, bitch! Fuckin' Christian singles, yo! So strap on that chastity belt, reread yourself some 1 Timothy(the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of his Church, for the Godless Bible-illiterati among you), and party like it's 1859 at Christian Singles Dance Night. 7 p.m. $8-$12. Redeemer Lutheran Church, 16351 Springdale St., Huntington Beach, (714) 625-3508.
Are you against cancer? Are you for breasts? Me too! Show your support (get it?) while also getting some goddamn exercise, you fat pig—for charity!—at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It's at Fashion Island, and the website doesn't bother letting you know the time. By all means, check for yourself, and then write the webmaster. I'd do it, but I'm lazy. (Rebecca's not-lazy editor's note: registration begins at 6:30 a.m.) Fashion Island, 700 Newport Center Dr., Newport Beach; www.occure.com.

Go check out "Buffalo Chart—My Symbolic Chronicle of the American Story"at Chapman. What do they say about it? It's "Bernard Williams' epic collection of cut-out wooden symbols and freestanding sculptures, which speak about American history and culture." Have I seen it? No. Is it open on Mondays? Yes. Open noon-5 p.m. Free. Chapman University's Guggenheim Gallery, 1 University Dr., Orange, (714) 997-6729.
Have you been a little disappointed with the Red Cross' performance in the Gulf? Me too. I know they couldn't go into New Orleans proper because the gubmint asked them not to, but their shelters around the South have been looking a bit fubar too. That's why I heartily second our boy Jim Washburn's choice for charity largesse in I Ain't Got No Home, a Hurricane Katrina ReliefShow:it's benefiting Habitat for Humanity. The event raises money through donations and a portion of the food sales, and Washburn will be spinning New Orleans' storied sound from his ridiculously extensive collection. Join us. 7:30-10 p.m. Free admission, donation suggested. All ages. Gypsy Den, 125 N. Broadway, Santa Ana, (714) 835-8840.
Hey, it's the Haunted Fullerton Walking Tour! You know where I've taken a haunted walking tour? New Orleans. I wonder if it'll be more haunted now. Walk to such spots as the Plummer Auditorium, where local researchers have captured some interesting anomalies on film; the mysterious basement hallways of the Fullerton Police Department; the historic California Hotel, now Villa del Sol; the Schumacher Building with its tragic past; and the home of Fullerton's first lady auto dealer. (All auto dealers are scary.) 6-8:30 p.m. $8-$12. Fullerton Museum Center, 301 N. Pomona Ave., Fullerton, (714) 738-6545.
Thurs., Sept. 29
Bayside Restaurantoffers its End of Summer Zin Festival. Zinfandels? What time is it, 1990? 5:30 p.m. $15. Bayside Restaurant, 900 Bayside Dr., Newport Beach, (949) 721-1222.
