You thought using proper word placement in journalism was tricky? Try Scrabble. Sure, not knowing the value of words can make it tough to find a job as a journo. But at least you dont have to shoulder the embarrassment of an opponent sinking a triple word score on your ass. At the Neighborhood Cup in Aliso Viejo, Sunday Scrabble has morphed into a way of life for some of its most dedicated wordsmiths. Even if youre a beginner looking to improve your game, this is a great place to learn. Club 350, founded by Director Gary Moss (lets just call him The Tile Master), is a lively gang of competitive Scrabble players that typically gather in Laguna Woods to sharpen their vocab-connecting skills this board game classic. But every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday of the month, its on at The Cup where competitive Scrabbaholics gather round for an old-fashioned tile throw down. Aww yeah.
Second and Third Sunday of every month, 1 p.m.; Fourth and Last Sunday of every month, 1 p.m., 2008
