Sawdust Art Festival

The arts in the OC? We’re spoiled friggin’ rotten. Case in point: Laguna Beach’s esteemed Sawdust Art Festival. Glass blowing, clothing and textiles, jewelry and ceramics, painting and photography, wood and metal sculpture, scrimshaw, gourd art, furniture, leather, and a ton more from some 200 local exhibitors, with sawdust-covered paths through a specially handcrafted village—all beach-adjacent with free sunshine on a 3-acre eucalyptus grove complete with waterfall. Cleveland, this ain’t. There are three stages of live music, plus food vendors, restaurants and cold beverages from the Sawdust Saloon. The first event in 1964 was labeled “the Rejects Festival” by the media; last year, there were 200,000 visitors. You’ve come a long way, baby.
