Robert Randolph & The Family Band

Ever since he was plucked by John Medeski to join the North Mississippi Allstars on their jam band project, The Word, in 2001, New Jersey-native Robert Randolph has been a staple in both the blues and funk-soul scenes. Randolph’s ferocious pedal steel built him a loyal fan base—and he's become a popular figure among A-list musicians. Sharing the stage with Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews Band and appearing on songs with countless other icons gave Randolph valuable currency among his peers—even if he hasn’t achieved widespread acclaim. Touring behind their fourth album, the well-received Lickety Split, Robert Randolph & The Family Band is renowned for their electric live show, often with the guitarist and his band-mates swapping instruments on a song’s notice. This not only shows musical prowess, but demonstrates why Randolph remains one of the most respected players of his time.
