Rita Rudner

Comedian Rita Rudner doesn't have much in common with post-millennial fart comics, but that doesn't mean her act isn't something to marvel at. Her professional wisecrackery started in the '80s (following a short go as a Broadway dancer) and she often graced the stage of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. With a wit drier than a forest besieged by bark beetles and a mischievous twinkle in her eye, Rudner delivers droll observations on life via the vapid persona of an eccentric high-school classmate. Her material isn't too risque, but she's a venerable pro, and though her style is vintage, it's also ironically refreshing.
