Richard Jackson: Ain't Painting a Pain

American contemporary artist Richard Jackson is hailed as “one of the most radical artists” of the last half-century. His current collection, now on display at the Orange County Museum of Art, features his famous interpretation of “action” painting in a series of drastic, arresting, room-size installations. There's massive sculpture, life-size recreations of everyday scenes covered in vivd hues, anthropomorphic painting devices, and massive collections of stacked canvases. Some of the pieces are showing for the first time in the United States, and one is a sculpture that was conceived decades ago but never built. Catch this truly unique and imaginative collection before it travels to Europe later this year.

Wednesdays-Sundays, 11 a.m. Starts: Feb. 17. Continues through May 5, 2013
