Refreshing Paws

Glasgow-born Al Stewart has been an essential thread in the singer-songwriter tapestry for over four decades with his most notable hit, 1976’s “Year of the Cat” still receiving regular airplay on easy listening radio. With finely crafted folk-inspired musicianship and lyrics such as “she comes out of the sun in a silk dress running/like a watercolour in the rain,” Stewart’s globe and epoch spanning poetic confessionals have been likened to a history lesson with music, transporting listeners into short story worlds billowing with color and emotion. Stewart’s new release, Sparks of Ancient Light, comes out next month. Until then, catch up on what you’ve been missing at the Coach House.
