Psycho

Master of Suspense Alfred Hitchcock is all the rage right now—two biopics, one focusing on The Birds and one on Psycho—and with so much glammy (and creeper) fodder going around, it’s nice to just sit back and actually watch the masterpieces this maniacal magician made appear out of seemingly thin air. Considered one of his very best, the 1961 Psycho is much more than Norman Bates, shower scenes and Janet Leigh in the cinema’s first-ever undergarment appearance. It’s also the driving scene, the music, the silence, the shadows and, yes, Janet Leigh in her undergarment appearance. It all adds up to one of those “movies that changed the world,” and it’s time you saw it the way it was meant to be seen—in-your-face, full-screen fantastic.
