This new year, take the plunge! “Plunge into what?” you ask? Well it’s not a diet, nor the toilet. It’s the annual Huntington Beach Pier Plunge! Or Polar Plunge or Surf City Splash, depending on who you trust on Google. Starting at 8 a.m. people from OC and beyond gather together to begin the New Year on the right note: full of pancakes and shivering cold. Following an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast (with proceeds going to the International Surf Museum and the HB Lions Club), celebrators don their finest swim suits and funny costumes to dash into the brisk Pacific Ocean in a jovial nod to the only thing that make true sense in this world: doing whatever it takes to beat a hangover.
