As our urban environment grows increasingly hostile and invasive, it becomes vital to preserve our small oases in the desert of cars, work and nagging kids who just. Won't. Shut. Up! Sorry, sorry. Okay, so, Santiago Creek reminds us that nature still rears its frequently inconvenient head despite some people's best attempts to stifle it. And with those of us who value open space lies the responsibility to preserve it. Today, at the start of the work week, think about the last time you walked in nature and decide whether you prefer the sights, sounds and smells of nature to the sights, sounds and smells of an industrial park. If so, pick up the phone and volunteer to help keep it vital.
