Outdoor Cinema: Elf

“First off, you see gum on the street, leave it there. It isn't free candy.” Better advice was never given—and now the oft-quoted Christmas gem Elf comes to the OC Mart Mix for a holiday screening under the stars. Doors open early at 5 p.m., giving you time to peruse the crafty, gourmet, handmade, so-hip-we-can't-stand-it items of the shops, enjoy music and stock up on movie snacks (perhaps something from the four food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup). The film begins at 7 p.m.—it's going to be a chilly night, so in addition to a lawn chair, remember to bring warm jackets or blankets—and sit back for the story of oafish and wide-eyed Buddy, played perfectly by Will Ferrell, raised at the North Pole, who embarks on a journey to New York to find his real father. Just remember, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.
