National Theater Live: Frankenstein

If you’ve gotten into Sherlock on PBS, or seen in him in one of the best films of all time, Amazing Grace, you know the pale young British actor with the unlikely name. Benedict Cumberbatch (smile when you say that) arrives in a theater near you, by which we mean only one theater in all of Orange County, performing twice, as both (!) the monster (2 p.m.) and the mad scientist (6 p.m.) in Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein. On one day, Arts Orange County and the Barclay screen back to back these recorded live productions of the smash-hit National Theater performance from London, in which Jonny Lee Miller alternates roles with Cumberbatch (just fun to say) as Victor F. and his difficult, sympathetic, doomed Creature.

Sun., July 8, 2 & 6 p.m., 2012
