Mummenschanz

Sometimes in life, words just get in the way. Such is the case with Swiss theater troupe Mummenschanz. The group, who formed in 1972, use no words in their acts, instead breathing new life into everyday objects such as clay, boxes and toilet paper—and the results are humorous and entertaining. Though all the performers dress up as imaginary creatures and never show their faces, Mummenschanz offers insight into human relationships and interactions. Two of the three founding members will perform on their first U.S. tour in eight years, titled 3×11 . They’ll revisit classic skits, as well as debut new material—and maybe we’ll get a glimpse from their 1976 appearance on The Muppet Show.
