Movie Mondays: Cabaret

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and appetites tonight to the Segerstrom Center's outdoor Arts Plaza. For a series of Mondays through the summer, Segerstrom presents free screenings of classic films under the night sky. Tonight they revive their Audience Favorite Fan Poll winner, the 1972 musical classic Cabaret. Holding the record for most Oscars won without nabbing Best Picture, Cabaret flaunted a rather risque storyline for that period. Liza Minnelli plays Sally, an American cabaret singer in Berlin, who pals up with Brian, played by Michael York, and together they embark on a journey filled with song, Nazis and sexual misadventures. Guests are encouraged to bring picnics or purchase items from a selection of food trucks. Scheduled to roll in tonight are the Bakery Truck, Currywurst and Piaggio on Wheels (try the churros con dulce de leche). Set-up begins at 5:30 p.m.
