Mas Y Mas

I can predict most of Café Tacuba’s upcoming set list at the Grove already: “Ingrata,” (the psycho-ranchera),“Déjame Caer,” (the one with the funny line dance), “Como te Extraño,” (the syrupy, ska-ky love ballad), “Chilanga Banda,” (the one with all the weird Mexico City slang), “El Borrego,” (the death-metal parordy) and a couple of tracks from last year’s so-so album Sino. Seriously, folks: you’ve been to one concert by the titans of rock en español, you’ve been to them all. But betcha you haven’t been to one, lazy gabacho. Here’s what you’ve been missing: the perfect fusion of modern and ancient, tradition and anarchy, stage presence and intrigue. In other words, the best performers since Morrissey. I’ll skip this time around, but if you do, you probably like your music as Muzak.
