Love Them Madly

The music biz may be circling the drain, but at least one sector of it is thriving: tribute bands. Unless nostalgia becomes outlawed, these ersatz units will always have job security. Ergo, Huntington Beach's Wild Child, a spot-on homage to the Doors, with the obligatory Jim Morrison dead ringer. Nearly four decades after their demise, the Doors continue to polarize: Some pundits say they were self-important charlatans with absurd literary pretensions; others claim they were the musical apotheosis of the Dionysian principle. But most folks just want to get wasted and laid to their alternately hooky and serpentine psych-blues jams. Wild Child, studies show, will light your fire.
